Phishing Hotline – Serious Game Project

4-Month Academic Assignment

For this serious game we analyzed common user barriers—false beliefs, lack of practical skills, and fluctuating motivation—to structure interactive case-based dialogues that confront each challenge head-on. By embedding a comprehensive in-game wiki and realistic narrative branches, we immerse players in authentic phishing scenarios and progressively build their ability to recognize and counter attacks.

My Design Roles

I led the design and integration of multiple systems:

  • Wiki & Scenario Designer: wrote all attack-case scenarios and assembled the in-game reference wiki.
  • Narrative Designer: structured branching client dialogues to maintain realism and engagement.

Challenges

Crafting realistic but engaging phishing scenarios; maintaining player interest while teaching subtle attack patterns; and balancing accuracy with gameplay flow under tight academic deadlines.

Lessons Learned

I discovered that narrative design demands rigorous self-review at every storytelling beat, and that clear, iterative feedback loops are essential to refine both educational content and player immersion.
